Measurement of Adsorptive Organic Fluorine Compounds (PFAS) in Water [Technical Document]
Total parameters for non-target screening of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in water.
Most organic fluorine compounds are assumed to be the total of all adsorbable organic fluorine (AOF) compounds in water. The measurement of AOF is simpler and faster than target analytical methods, and it is more sensitive than total fluorine (TF) measurements (which include all organic and inorganic F). Measuring AOF in water samples as an initial screening process allows for the screening of the actual amounts of organic fluorine compounds present. Following this, if indicated by high AOF concentrations, it can serve as a criterion for conducting target analysis of individual PFAS.
